Walk the mud-brick walls of Aït Ben Haddou, Tinghir, Aït Youl and Ksar Rissani with a local heritage guide. Discover the artistry of pisé construction, zellige tilework and the social architecture of the ksar — a fortified village built around water.

Aït Ben Haddou is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a film set for Gladiator and Game of Thrones — but our half-day there leaves the cameras behind. We meet the artisans who restore the kasbahs, share tea with the families who still live within them, and end on a rooftop above the river. Optional pottery class in Tamegroute, optional silver workshop in Tinghir.

Modest & breathable

Clothes for the medinas

Loose, breathable fabrics — linen and cotton survive 40 °C far better than denim.
Shoulders and knees covered when visiting kasbahs, koubbas and small mosques.
A light scarf doubles as shawl, headcover and sand-shield.
Comfortable closed shoes — kasbah stairs are steep and the alleys are uneven.
